TRIP SECTIONS

Full Canyon

The Full Canyon trips cover the entire length of Grand Canyon National Park in 225 river miles. There is NO required hike in/out of the trip, but there are daily side canyon hikes and adventures. You’ll boat all the canyon’s rapids and will neither miss the beauty of Marble Canyon or have to leave at the mid way point.

Upper Canyon – Hike Out

The Upper Canyon travels through Marble Canyon and covers the first 89 river miles. A 7.5 mile hike UP from the river to the rim on Day 4 is required.

Lower Canyon – Hike In

The Lower Canyon trips cover the 2nd section of the river, 136 river miles. These trips begin at Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim with the 7.5 mile hike DOWN the Bright Angel trail.

  • OAR TRIPS are 15, 7 or 9 days

Motor & Oar Trips

The 4/5 Day Upper Canyon Motor trip and the 6/7 Day Oar trip end with the 7.5* mile hike UP the Bright Angel Trail. This is a strenuous hike that you must pre-condition for.

Please note that the hike difficulty is increased by several factors including:

  • Weight of your back pack – you’ll be carrying your clothes for the trip, hike snacks & drinking water up with you
  • You must be in shape to complete the hike – you will have all day to complete the hike out

LOWER CANYON

DOWNHILL 7.5 mile hike into the Canyon on the 1st day

Motor & Oar Trips

The 5/6 Day Lower Canyon Motor trip and the 9 Day Oar trip begin with the 7.5* mile hike DOWN the Bright Angel Trail. This is a strenuous hike that you must pre-condition for.

Please note that the hike difficulty is increased by several factors including:

  • Extended downhill travel is very hard on knees and hips – this can be painful/impossible if you are not conditioned adequately
  • Weight of your back pack – you’ll be carrying your clothes for the trip, hike snacks & drinking water down with you
  • You must be in shape to complete the hike in 5-6 hours – if you are not able to meet certain time sensitive trail markers you’ll miss the trip and forfeit your trip fare
